Dubai Press Club Arab Podcast Programme

The Dubai Press Club has moved into the second week of its third Arab Podcast Programme, following an intensive series of workshops and training sessions designed to empower participants with essential podcasting skills. This initiative, which commenced on July 13, aims to transform creative podcast ideas into professional projects that resonate with audiences.

Comprehensive Training at Dubai Press Club

Hosted at the Dubai Press Club’s headquarters, this programme blends theoretical knowledge with hands-on training, providing participants with a comprehensive toolkit to create, produce, and market successful podcasts. The first week of the programme featured a variety of expert-led workshops that laid the groundwork for aspiring podcasters.

Podcast Fundamentals and Content Planning

Charbel Issa, a Customer Success Manager and certified trainer at Podeo, spearheaded three foundational sessions during the opening week. These workshops delved into the basics of podcasting, including content planning and adhering to professional standards. Participants explored key aspects such as developing podcast concepts, identifying target audiences, branding projects, employing research techniques, crafting scripts, structuring episodes, and ensuring sustainability in the evolving podcast landscape.

Vocal Performance and Visual Branding

A significant focus of the programme was building a unique vocal identity, emphasized in the session titled “Building a Vocal Footprint: Tools and Strategies,” led by Rahaf Khaled Al-Halabi, a certified vocal performance specialist. This workshop highlighted voice development and pronunciation, underlining the importance of vocal performance in enhancing a podcast’s identity and audience engagement.

In addition, visual artist and branding expert Mohammed Abdulaziz conducted a workshop on creating a compelling visual identity for podcasts. Participants learned how to design logos, select appropriate colors, choose typography, design episode covers, and maintain visual consistency across digital platforms.

Enhancing Media Presence and Storytelling

The first week also included workshops focusing on media presence and storytelling skills. Sessions titled “The Charisma of Appearance: Performance Arts and Managing Media Dialogue” and “The Art of Storytelling: From Abstract Idea to Inspiring Content” provided participants with valuable insights into managing media interactions and crafting engaging narratives.

Strategic Foundations for Podcast Success

Mariam Al Mulla, Director of the Dubai Press Club, emphasized the programme’s focus on establishing strong foundational elements before moving into production and publication phases. “The speakers concentrated on the essential pillars of podcast success, particularly the development of the idea, identity, and voice, which are crucial for creating impactful podcasts,” she stated.

Al Mulla also noted the programme’s commitment to enhancing storytelling and media performance skills, enabling participants to thoroughly understand podcasting tools.

Practical Application in Training

Wadad Kahour, Head of Media Talent Development at the Dubai Press Club, highlighted the practical nature of the first week. “We designed the initial week as a practical space for participants to test and refine their ideas through hands-on exercises and direct interactions with trainers, broadening their understanding of the podcast industry,” she explained.

Looking Ahead: Advanced Workshops

As the Arab Podcast Programme progresses into its second week, participants will engage in specialized workshops focusing on production, technical implementation, publishing, and promotional strategies. The programme will culminate with participants presenting their completed podcast projects to a panel of experts for evaluation, offering them a platform to showcase their newly acquired skills.
