Dubai RTA Unveils Major Road Upgrades on Oud Metha and Al Asayel

Project Completion Marks a Milestone in Dubai’s Infrastructure Development

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced the successful completion of a transformative infrastructure project on Oud Metha Road and Al Asayel Street. This significant development aims to alleviate traffic congestion and enhance road safety in one of Dubai’s busiest areas.

Comprehensive Road Improvements

The extensive project involved the enhancement of four key intersections, the construction of four new bridges, and the addition of two tunnels, cumulatively spanning over 4,300 meters. In addition, road expansion works covered an impressive 14 kilometers, significantly improving traffic capacity and flow.

Increased Traffic Capacity

One of the most notable outcomes of the project is the increased capacity of Oud Metha Road. The road can now accommodate up to 15,600 vehicles per hour, a substantial 50% increase from its previous capacity of 10,400 vehicles. This upgrade is expected to drastically reduce the time spent in traffic for daily commuters.

Travel Time Reduction

According to the RTA, the improvements have slashed journey times by 75%, reducing them from 20 minutes to just five minutes. This dramatic decrease in travel time is anticipated to enhance the daily commute for thousands of residents and improve overall productivity in the area.

Impact on Local Communities

By 2030, the development is projected to serve over 420,000 residents, significantly benefiting communities in Zabeel, Al Jaddaf, Umm Hurair, and Oud Metha. These enhancements are part of a broader initiative by the RTA to bolster road infrastructure and improve mobility across Dubai.

Strategic Infrastructure Initiatives

The Oud Metha Road and Al Asayel Street development is a critical component of Dubai’s strategic infrastructure plan. This plan is designed to support the city’s rapid growth and improve the quality of life for its residents by ensuring efficient transportation networks.

Future Prospects

The completion of this project sets a precedent for future infrastructure developments in the region. It underscores Dubai’s commitment to advancing its transportation systems and addressing the needs of its growing population.

The RTA continues to work on various projects that aim to enhance transport efficiency, reduce congestion, and promote sustainable transportation solutions in line with Dubai’s vision for a smart and connected city.
