UAE weather update rain fog

As the weekend approaches in the United Arab Emirates, residents should be prepared for a mix of weather conditions, including rain, fog, and a slight drop in temperatures, as forecasted by the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).

Rain and Cloud Development

According to the NCM, there is a strong likelihood of rainfall in the eastern and western regions of the UAE today. The weather is expected to be fair to partly cloudy, with the potential for convective cloud formation particularly notable eastward near Fujairah and westward close to Abu Dhabi and Al Ain. These developments could lead to unsettled weather conditions, resulting in scattered rainfall across these areas.

High Humidity Levels

Despite the anticipated rain, relative humidity remains a significant factor today. The coastal areas are experiencing maximum humidity levels reaching up to 90%. This humidity is expected to rise further by nighttime and into Saturday morning, increasing the likelihood of fog or mist, especially in urban centers like Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Sharjah.

Temperature Trends

Currently, temperatures across the UAE are in the mid-30s Celsius, with a gradual decline expected over the weekend. Notably, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, and Ras Al Khaimah will see highs of 38°C, while Dubai is projected to peak at 37°C. Ajman will reach 36°C, and the cooler emirates, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah, are forecasted at 35°C.

Detailed Temperature Breakdown

The following are the maximum and minimum temperatures expected across the Emirates today:

  • Dubai: 37°C max, 26°C min
  • Abu Dhabi: 38°C max, 28°C min
  • Al Ain: 38°C max, 26°C min
  • Sharjah: 38°C max, 24°C min
  • Ajman: 36°C max, 26°C min
  • Fujairah: 35°C max, 27°C min
  • Ras Al Khaimah: 38°C max, 22°C min
  • Umm Al Quwain: 35°C max, 26°C min
  • Liwa: 38°C max, 24°C min

Sea Conditions and Winds

Winds will be light to moderate throughout the day, with speeds ranging from 10 to 25 km/h, potentially reaching up to 40 km/h in some internal areas. In terms of sea conditions, the Arabian Gulf is expected to experience slight to moderate conditions with wave heights up to two feet onshore and four feet offshore. Similarly, the Sea of Oman will have gentle waves, rising to two feet onshore and three feet offshore.

Weekend Weather Outlook

For those planning outdoor activities or road trips this weekend, it would be wise to carry an umbrella due to the expected rainfall in the eastern and northern regions, attributed to the convective cloud formation. On a brighter note, the NCM has indicated a gradual reduction in temperatures as we progress into the following week, which could make it ideal to explore the range of outdoor activities and sporting events available in Dubai.
