UAE’s Unusual Rainfall Patterns Set to Continue with More Showers

The UAE is experiencing an unusual weather pattern this October, with above-average rainfall reported across various regions. This trend is expected to persist throughout the week, as indicated by the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).

Persistent Rainfall to Mark the Week

The current weather forecast suggests that residents across the UAE should prepare for a wet week ahead. Initially, fair to partly cloudy skies are anticipated, with the formation of convective clouds likely, particularly in the northern and eastern areas. These clouds are expected to bring rain, contributing to an already wetter-than-usual October, which has recorded an average of 5.2mm of rain so far.

Regions such as Fujairah and Kalba are poised to see the most significant rainfall, as convective cloud formations are predicted to occur frequently over the next few days. This is a continuation of the trend observed in the NCM’s October summary report, which noted the unusual increase in precipitation levels for the month.

Temperature Trends and Humidity Levels

In tandem with the increased rainfall, temperatures across the UAE are gradually decreasing. However, humidity remains high, particularly during nighttime and early morning hours. This combination creates conditions conducive to fog formation, notably in major cities like Dubai and Abu Dhabi, where relative humidity could reach up to 85% and 80%, respectively.

Daily high temperatures are still relatively warm, with Ras Al Khaimah expected to reach 37°C. Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Ajman, and Umm Al Quwain are forecasted to peak at 36°C, while Sharjah will see slightly cooler temperatures at 35°C. Fujairah remains the coolest of the emirates, with a maximum temperature of 34°C.

Sea Conditions Along Coastlines

For those residing near the western coastline, it is advisable to exercise caution when planning beach activities due to moderate sea conditions. The Arabian Gulf will experience slight to moderate waves, with onshore wave heights reaching two feet and offshore waves up to five feet. Similarly, the Sea of Oman will see gentle onshore waves rising to two feet and offshore waves reaching three feet.

Given these conditions, residents and visitors are advised to stay updated with the latest weather reports and heed any advisories issued by local authorities to ensure safety during outdoor activities.

Detailed Temperature Overview

The current temperatures across the UAE demonstrate a typical variation, with maximum and minimum ranges as follows:

Maximum Temp (°C) Minimum Temp (°C)

Dubai: 36°C / 25°C

Abu Dhabi: 36°C / 26°C

Al Ain: 38°C / 25°C

Sharjah: 35°C / 26°C

Ajman: 36°C / 25°C

Fujairah: 34°C / 27°C

Ras Al Khaimah: 37°C / 23°C

Umm Al Quwain: 36°C / 25°C

Liwa: 38°C / 23°C

Overall, the UAE is gearing up for a week dominated by rain, with temperatures remaining warm but gradually declining. Residents are encouraged to prepare for the potential weather impacts, particularly in areas prone to heavy rainfall and fog.
