DEWA Achieves Global Recognition for Excellence in Best Practices

The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has been globally recognized for its exemplary organizational practices, receiving accolades from the International Best Practice Competition (IBPC). Dr. Robin Mann, Chairman of IBPC, honored Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, DEWA’s MD & CEO, for his commitment to excellence and leadership in fostering a culture of innovation and sustainability.

Outstanding Global Best Practices

DEWA’s achievements in the competition were marked by the recognition of 11 teams for their exceptional practices, all of which were rated as global best practices. These practices received ratings ranging from five to seven stars, underscoring DEWA’s dedication to adopting innovative approaches and sustainable development.

Specifically, five practices attained a prestigious seven-star rating, three achieved six stars, and another three were awarded five stars, reflecting the organization’s commitment to continuous improvement and excellence.

Dr. Mann’s Commendation

Dr. Mann extended his congratulations to DEWA for its outstanding performance in the IBPC Best Practice Certification Programme. He emphasized that the recognition of DEWA’s practices at such a high level demonstrates the organization’s commitment to excellence, innovation, and knowledge sharing across all its departments.

The seven-star practices include the Gas Turbine Intelligent Controller from the Generation Division, the Hab-Reeh interactive web service for solar photovoltaic compliance, and Hydro Insight, an AI-powered water monitoring system. Other notable achievements include the independent water and power producer model and the significant reduction in gas turbine outage periods.

Six-star recognitions were awarded to the Innovation and Future Shaping Integrated Framework, DEWA’s data-driven training effectiveness measure, and the standardized digitally optimized substation design.

Among the five-star practices were cable lifecycle aging for enhanced network reliability, world-class collections efficiency, and smart bank guarantees, demonstrating DEWA’s commitment to efficiency and asset management.
